Firefighters from the Fire Safety Department of the Communauté maritime des Îles-de-la-Madeleine will be conducting preventive visits to residences on Entry Island, on Wednesday, September 16th, to ensure that smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are functioning properly and to answer any fire safety-related questions. These visits aim to reduce the number of fatalities and material losses due to fires, promote safe behaviors to eliminate fire risks at home, and raise awareness of municipal fire safety regulations to ensure compliance.
Firefighters will carry identification cards and wear service uniforms during the visits. They will inspect smoke alarms on each floor, including the ground floor and basement. Please note that a carbon monoxide alarm is required if your home has an attached garage, wood stove, or oil heating.
